Paying and tipping aboard Paradise Vietnam Cruises

When you have booked and paid for your cabin on your luxury overnight cruise of Halong Bay, you can rest assured that there are many inclusions with your reservation, for example, meals and excursions. This handy guide will help you understand purchasing and tipping protocols onboard your Paradise cruise.

Paying

In addition to the inclusions with your Halong Bay overnight cruise, you can purchase drinks, wellness treatment and spa services, and souvenirs while you are on board. You can also pay to upgrade your cabin or extend your stay - just talk to one of our friendly and professional crew and we will arrange this for you. Any additional services or products you purchase will be paid for at Reception when you check-out, and before you disembark.
If you are buying alcohol and cigarettes in Vietnam, please note that these products are subject to an excise tax that is much higher than in many other countries. For example, you may pay prices of 20% or more for alcohol, and beer has an add-on tax of 65%.
On the last morning when you settle your account before you check-out, you can pay in cash (USD or VND) and international credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, China Union Pay, Discover Card, Diners Club) are welcome on board.

Tipping

In Vietnam, tipping is not mandatory; however, tipping is appreciated. If the service you receive is excellent, leaving a tip is recommended and pays a valuable complement to the staff who served you.
Onboard your Paradise luxury cruise, the crew do expect tips as part of their income. Gratuities should be at least VND 20,000 - 50,000 (USD 1 - 2) and given in cash directly to the person who would like to show your appreciation to.
Each Paradise Cruises vessel has a tip box, with gratuities shared between the cruise team who has made your journey so enjoyable. It is a generally accepted practice that your cash gratuity should be around VND 200,000 per cabin.
